WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford RV Cutaway, 2008 Ford Econoline, 2008 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when taking measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
  1. A1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO SEAT CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT 517 (BK/WH)
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Depower the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
    • Disconnect: Driver Seat Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioner C3338
    • Disconnect: Seat Control Switch C360
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any air bag module when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
    • Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.

    • Measure the voltage between seat control switch C360-3, circuit 517 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : Go to  A2.
    2. NO  : VERIFY central junction box (CJB) fuse 16 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 517 (BK/WH). DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3338. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. A2 CHECK FOR AN OPEN SEAT CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT 57 (BK)

    • Measure the resistance between seat control switch C360-1, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch . DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3338. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3338. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. TEST the system for normal operation.
