Door Lock Cylinder: Removal

All doors
NOTE:
When a new lock cylinder is installed, the door lock cylinder and ignition lock cylinder should be installed as a set. This eliminates carrying an extra key which fits only one lock. If a new key is used, the new key code number is stamped on a metal tag attached to the key.
NOTE:
Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative lock cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle.
- If equipped, remove the door trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
- Disconnect the lock cylinder actuating rod.
- Remove the retainer and the door lock cylinder.
- Release the 2 tabs on the door lock cylinder cover and slide it off the door lock cylinder.
- Remove the retainer and the door lock cylinder.
- Remove the 4 license plate housing screws.
- Position the housing away from the door.
- Disconnect the lock cylinder actuating rod and the door latch actuating cable.
- Remove the retainer and the door lock cylinder.
- Remove the 4 license plate housing screws.
- Position the housing away from the door.
- Disconnect the interior door latch actuating cable.
- Release the 2 tabs on the door lock cylinder cover and slide it off the door lock cylinder.
- Remove the retainer and the door lock cylinder.
- If equipped, remove the speaker.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Disconnect the speaker electrical connector.
- Disconnect the lock cylinder actuating rod.
- Remove the retainer and the lock cylinder.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
