Cover Seal: Removal

All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.

    2. Vehicles equipped with 3.0L 

  2. Remove the catalytic converter - 3.0L RH manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.

    3. Vehicles equipped with 2.5L 

  3. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and the catalytic converter bracket.

    All vehicles 

  4. Remove the 3 bolts and the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) heat shield.
  5. Remove the front RH intermediate shaft. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE HALFSHAFTS article.
  6. Remove and discard the deflector.
  7. Using the Bearing Cup Puller and Slide Hammer, remove the cover seal.
