Disassembly and Assembly
- Lift the rear seat cushion(s) and fold forward to access the safety belt lower anchor and buckle bolts.
- Install the safety belt webbing retainer.
- Remove the bolt and detach the safety belt lower anchor (rear center) and safety belt buckle.
- To assemble, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 bolts and detach the 2 safety belt lower anchors (rear outboard, one shown).
- To assemble, tighten to 38 Nm (28 lb-ft).
- Detach the safety belt webbing from the top of the backrest.
- Feed the safety belt webbing through the elastic loops.
- Remove the rear seat backrest(s).
- Remove the 2 or 4 outer backrest retainer bolts.
- To assemble, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the 4 backrest retainer bolts from the center hinge locking plate, if equipped.
- To assemble, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the rear seat backrest(s).
- Remove the 2 or 4 outer backrest retainer bolts.
- Remove the head restraints.
- Remove the head restraint guides.
- Using a suitable screwdriver, tip the inserted end toward the guide to depress and release the locking tang.
- Remove the guide.
- Detach the backrest cover retaining strip.
- Remove the backrest release button shroud (if equipped).
- Detach the backrest trim cover from the backrest release button (if equipped).
- Detach the foam pad from the backrest release button (if equipped).
- Lock off the backrest latch.
- Detach the rear seat center safety belt guide.
- Move the safety belt webbing to access the retainers.
- Drill out the rivets.
- Remove the rear seat center safety belt guide.
- Detach the center safety belt webbing from the rear seat backrest trim cover and foam pad.
- Separate and remove the seat backrest frame from the trim cover and foam pad.
- Remove the 3 hog rings, separate the hook and loop strips and remove the backrest trim cover from the foam pad.
- Release the hook and loop strips and remove the backrest trim cover.
- To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
- Make sure the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants after installation.
- Verify the safety belt retractor operates without excessive effort or binding.

CAUTION:
Make sure a webbing retainer is fitted at least 200 mm (7.87 in) towards the safety belt retractor from the webbing stop.
NOTE:
The safety belt webbing retainer is supplied with new safety belts. Do not use any other retaining method.

Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

Locking off the backrest latch allows the safety belt to be moved when the backrest is in its normal upright position.
