Normal Operation

The seat belt tone request is transmitted over the controller area network (CAN) to the cluster from the restraint control module (RCM). The safety belt switches are hard-wired to the RCM. When the RCM detects a safety belt switch that is not buckled, the instrument cluster sends a tone request to the GEM which sounds the chime.
