Pinpoint Test E: The Transmission Control Lever Illumination Is Inoperative

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.

E1 CHECK CIRCUIT 29S-LK21 (OG/BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Transmission Range Selector Lever C3233.
- With the parking lamps ON, rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the voltage between the transmission range selector lever C3233-4, circuit 29S-LK21 (OG/BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : GO to E2.

No : REPAIR circuit 29S-LK21 (OG/BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
E2 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-TA34 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- With the parking lamps ON, rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.
- Measure the resistance between the transmission range selector lever C3233-1, circuit 31-TA34 (BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new transmission range selector lever. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE-TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS . TEST the system for normal operation.

No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
