Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

    All vehicles 

  1. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  in this article.
  3. Remove the front impact severity sensor. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  4. Remove the 2 pushpin retainers from the front bumper bracket.
  5. Remove the 2 front grille bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

    6. 3.0L vehicles only 

  6. Disconnect the transmission cooler hose.

    7. 2.3L vehicles only 

  7. Disconnect the coolant recovery hose from the radiator and position it aside.

    8. All vehicles 

  8. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 radiator brackets.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  9. Remove the center support lower bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  10. Remove the nut and the center support.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  11. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
  12. Remove the 2 cooling fan bolts and the cooling fan motor and shroud.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  14. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING  in this article.
