Pinpoint Test M: The Heated Seat Is Inoperative - Passenger, Does Not Operate In Low

  1. M1 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH INPUT TO THE HEATED SEAT MODULE 
    WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
    NOTE: If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered.
    NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
    NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
    • Key in OFF position.
      • WARNING: Be sure that nobody is in the vehicle and that there is nothing blocking or set in front of any air bag module when the battery ground cable is connected.
    • For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, carry out the following:
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Passenger Heated Seat Module C329.
    • Measure the resistance between passenger heated seat module C329-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side and ground while pressing the heated seat switch.

    • Is the resistance less than 50 ohms when the heated seat switch is pressed and greater than 10,000 ohms when the heated seat switch is not pressed? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new heated seat module. TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    No  : GO to M2.

  2. M2 CHECK CIRCUITS 1256 (WH/YE) AND 1255 (WH/RD) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Passenger Heated Seat Switch C630.
    • Measure the resistance between passenger heated seat switch C630-2, circuit 1255 (WH/RD), harness side and passenger heated seat module C329-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side; and between passenger heated seat switch C630-2, circuit 1255 (WH/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 1 ohm between the heated seat switch and the heated seat module and greater than 10,000 ohms between the heated seat switch and ground? 

    Yes  : GO to M3.

    No  : REPAIR circuit 1256 (WH/YE) or 1255 (WH/RD). TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  3. M3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1256 (WH/YE) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between passenger heated seat module C329-11, circuit 1256 (WH/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is voltage present? 

    Yes  : REPAIR circuit 1256 (WH/YE). TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    No  : INSTALL a new heated seat switch. TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
