Engine Support Insulators: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  3. Remove the air cleaner housing. For additional information, refer to AIR CLEANER -- 5.4L (3V) .
  4. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR -- GASOLINE ENGINES .
  5. Remove the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to COOLING FAN -- BLADE, CLUTCH AND SHROUD .
  6. If removing the RH engine support insulator, remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTER MOTOR .
  7. Install the special tools.

  8. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.

  9. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.

  10. Loosen the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.
  11. CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing the engine mount nut or damage to the engine mount can occur.
    NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

  12. Remove the 6 engine mount nuts.
  13. Using the special tools, raise the engine.

  14. RH engine mount 

  15. Remove the 4 bolts and the engine mount.

  16. Remove the 4 bolts and the engine mount bracket.

  17. LH engine mount 

  18. Remove the 3 bolts and the engine mount.
