Pinpoint Test A: The Control Illumination Is Inoperative

  1. A1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMP OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
    • Do the parking lamps operate correctly? 
      • Yes  : GO to  A2.
      • No  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the parking lamps.
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-LE29 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
    • Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C205 pin 10, circuit 31-LE29 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
      • Yes  : GO to  A3.
      • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 29S-DA2 (OG/BU) FOR AN OPEN 
      NOTE: If the fuse in the jumper wire fails, repair the circuit for a short to ground.

    • Install a fused (5A) jumper wire between the headlamp switch C205 pin 9, circuit 29S-DA2 (OG/BU), harness side and the headlamp switch C205 pin 11, circuit 29-LE29 (OG/BK), harness side.
    • Do the backlighting components illuminate? 
      • Yes  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
