Pinpoint Test B: The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Are On With The Ignition Switch Off

  1. B1 CHECK THE DRL RESISTOR 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: DRL Relay C1000.
    • Disconnect: Low Beam Relay C1049.
    • Measure the voltage between the low beam relay C1049 pin 4, circuit 15S-LE8 (GN/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
      • Yes  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new BJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : GO to  B2.
  2. B2 CHECK THE CONTROL CIRCUIT OF THE DRL RELAY FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Measure the voltage between the DRL relay C1000 pin 1, circuit 15S-LE6 (GN/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
      • Yes  : GO to  B4.
      • No  : GO to  B3
  3. B3 CHECK THE DRL RELAY 
    • Carry out the DRL Relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
    • Is relay ok? 
      • Yes  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosing the headlamp system.
      • No  : INSTALL a new DRL relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. B4 ISOLATE THE SHORT TO THE POWER CIRCUIT 
    • Connect: DRL Relay C1000.
    • Connect: Low Beam Relay C1049.
    • Disconnect: CJB Fuse 59.
    • Do the low beams continue to illuminate? 
      • Yes  : GO to  B7.
      • No  : GO to  B5.
  5. B5 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Connect: CJB Fuse 59.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
    • Do the low beams continue to illuminate? 
  6. B6 CHECK CIRCUIT 15-DA1 (GN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270e.
    • Measure the voltage between the CJB C270e pin 10, circuit 15-DA1 (GN/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
      • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. B7 CHECK THE CJB 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270e.
    • Do the low beams continue to illuminate? 
      • Yes  : GO to  B8.
      • No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. B8 CHECK 15S-LE6 (GN/YE) FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
    • Do the low beams continue to illuminate? 
      • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : GO to  B9
  9. B9 CHECK CIRCUIT 15-LE29 (GN/BK) FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C205 pin 8, circuit 15-LE29 (GN/BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
      • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . TEST the system for normal operation.
