Removal and Installation

CAUTION: This brake drum removal procedure is for access to brake system components, not for installing a new brake drum.
NOTE: To install a new brake drum, remove the wheel hub. For additional information, refer toWHEEL HUB in REAR SUSPENSION.

    All vehicles 

  1. Release the parking brake.
  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .

    3. Vehicles with anti-lock brakes 

  3. Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor.

    4. All vehicles 

  4. Remove the brake drum and wheel spindle assembly.

    CAUTION: Make sure that all mating surfaces are free of foreign material and debris.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
