Pinpoint Test C: The Headlamp On Reminder Chime Is Inoperative

  1. C1 CHECK CIRCUIT 29S-LE18 (OG/YE) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: GEM C201d.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the GEM C201d pin 14, circuit 29S-LE18 (OG/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
      • Yes  : GO to  C3.
      • No  : GO to  C2.
  2. C2 CHECK CIRCUIT 29S-LE18 (OG/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
    • Measure the resistance between the GEM C201d pin 14, circuit 29S-LE18 (OG/YE), harness side and the headlamp switch C205 pin 16, circuit 29S-LE18 (OG/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
      • Yes  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . TEST The system for normal operation.
      • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT GEM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the GEM connections.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the GEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
      • Yes  : INSTALL a new GEM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
