Pinpoint Test A: The Safety Belt Warning Chime Is Inoperative
- A1 RETRIEVE THE RCM RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS
- Use the recorded RCM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Are any DTCs retrieved?
- A2 CARRY OUT THE GEM ACTIVE COMMAND
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: GEM active command.
- Trigger the GEM active command chime ON/OFF.
- Does the chime operate correctly?
- Yes
: GO to A3.
- No
: GO to A5.
- A3 CHECK FOR CORRECT RCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the RCM connections.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all the RCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: GO to A4.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A4 CHECK THE RCM OPERATION
- Install a known good RCM.
- Is the concern still present?
- A5 CHECK FOR CORRECT GEM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the GEM connections.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all the GEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new GEM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES
. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A6 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all the instrument cluster connections.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
