Pinpoint Test T: The Traction Control Indicator Is Never/Always On
- T1 DETERMINE THE CONDITION
- Key in ON position.
- Observe the traction control indicator.
- Is the traction control indicator always on?
- Yes
: GO to T3.
- No
: GO to T2.
- T2 CARRY OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command.
- Select the instrument cluster warning lamps and chime active command. Trigger the indicator lamps active command on then off, while observing the traction control indicator.
- Does the traction control indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
- Yes
: GO to T5.
- No
: GO to T4.
- T3 CHECK THE ABS MODULE FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
- Key in ON position.
- Is the traction control indicator illuminated?
- Yes
: GO to T4.
- No
: GO to T5.
- T4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- T5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS module connector.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect the ABS module connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL
. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
