Pinpoint Test D: The Power Seat Does Not Make Full Travel
- D1 CHECK FOR AN OBSTRUCTION IN THE SEAT TRACK WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system repair only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in personal injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.NOTE: If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the restraint control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the key is in the ON position. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SRS fault.NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- Depower the SRS. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING .
- For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, carry out the following:
- Disconnect driver seat side air bag C367. Connect restraint system diagnostic tool 418-133.
- Disconnect the driver safety belt pretensioner electrical connector at the pretensioner.
- Key in OFF position.
- Remove the seat. Refer to SEAT - FRONT in this article.
- Check the seat track for obstructions or damage/misalignment of the seat track.
- Is the seat track free of obstructions and in good condition?
Yes : COMPARE the travel to a similar vehicle for reference. DISCONNECT the battery. If equipped, REMOVE the restraint system diagnostic tool and CONNECT the driver seat side air bag connector. CONNECT the driver safety belt pretensioner electrical connector. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : IDENTIFY the cause and CLEAR the seat track of obstructions or INSTALL a new seat track component as necessary. DISCONNECT the battery. If equipped, REMOVE the restraint system diagnostic tool and CONNECT the driver seat side air bag connector. CONNECT the driver safety belt pretensioner electrical connector. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING . TEST the system for normal operation.
