Removal And Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  3. Remove the pin-type retainer, 6 bolts and the LH splash shield.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  5. Remove the starter solenoid wire nut.
    • To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  6. Remove the starter solenoid battery cable nut and disconnect the starter motor solenoid terminal cover and cables.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness retainer and position aside the wiring harness.
  8. Remove the ground strap nut and position aside the strap.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  9. Remove the 2 stud bolts and the starter motor.
    • To install, tighten to 35 N.m (26 lb-ft).
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
