Pinpoint Test A: DTC B1213 - Anti-Theft Number Of Programmed Keys Is Below Minimum

  1. A1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: CLEAR DTCs.
    • Carry out the instrument cluster on-demand self-test.
    • Is DTC B1213 the only DTC retrieved? 

    Yes  : GO to A2.

    No  : REPAIR the other DTCs retrieved. REFER to the PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) INDEX . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  2. A2 PROGRAM THE PATS KEYS 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster PID.

      Monitor the instrument cluster PID for the number of keys.

    • Confirm the instrument cluster PID for the number of keys display less than 2 PATS keys programmed.
    • NOTE: Two PATS keys must be programmed in order to start the vehicle.
    • Cut a new PATS key.
    • Program all the PATS key(s). Refer to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT .
    • Key in ON position.
    • Does the anti-theft indicator illuminate for 3 seconds and then go out? 

    Yes  : CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test to verify all codes have been cleared. REFER to the PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) INDEX . If the vehicle is equipped with the valet feature, PROGRAM the third key (if available) or instruct the customer on how to carry out this procedure. REFER to KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS .

    No  : If the anti-theft indicator is on continuously, REPEAT Step A3 with a second new PATS key.

    If the theft indicator is flashing, RETRIEVE the DTC stored for the new fault and REPAIR the other DTC(s) retrieved. REFER to the PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) INDEX .
