Test Procedures

- TQ1 DTC P2806: CHECK THE FUNCTION OF THE GEAR SELECTOR
- Key in ON position.
- Move the gear selector from PARK to REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, and LOW gears.
Does the gear selector indicator on the instrument cluster match the position of the gear selector lever?
Yes No Key in OFF position.
GO to TQ2.Key in OFF position.
REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS - HYBRID ESCAPE and diagnose the shift control is out of correct relationship condition. - TQ2 CHECK GEAR SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ALIGNMENT NOTE: This step checks if the gear selector lever aligns with the drive position rib on the transaxle case.
- Key in ON position.
- Gear selector in DRIVE position.
- Visually check if the gear selector lever aligns with the drive position rib on the transaxle case. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS - HYBRID ESCAPE for the alignment procedure.
Does the gear selector lever align with the drive position rib on the transaxle case?
Yes No GO to TQ3. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS - HYBRID ESCAPE to align the gear selector lever. - TQ3 CHECK THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER CABLE AND BRACKET
- Inspect the gear selector lever cable and bracket for binding or damage.
- Check for loose gear selector lever cable and bracket.
Is a concern present?
Yes No REPAIR as necessary. GO to TQ4. - TQ4 CHECK THE PARK PAWL FUNCTION
- Place vehicle on a slight grade with the gear selector in PARK with the brake applied.
- Release the brake pedal.
Does the park pawl keep the vehicle from moving when the brake is released?
Yes No Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE to continue diagnosis.INSTALL a new transaxle assembly.
