- TM1 DTCS P0A2F AND P0A3C: CHECK FOR SELF-TEST DTCS
Are any of the following DTCs present during PCM or TCM self-test: P0A2F, or P0A3C?
Yes No For DTC P0A2F, GO to TM6.
For DTC P0A3C, GO to TM2.Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
Concern is elsewhere. RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE for further direction. - TM2 DTC P0A3C: CHECK FOR THE PRESENCE OF PCM DTCS P0A00, P0A02, P0A03, P0A7C
Are any of the above listed DTCs present?
Yes No DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. ADDRESS the next DTC. GO to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHARTS AND DESCRIPTIONS . GO to TM3. - TM3 VISUAL INSPECTION OF MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM NOTE: Repair any motor electronics coolant pump (MECP) DTCs before proceeding.
- Visually inspect the motor electronics cooling system for leaks, pinched hoses, restricted radiator air flow, correct coolant level, coolant flow at the motor electronics coolant reservoir, fan operation, and loose electrical connections.
Is the motor electronics cooling system OK?
Yes No GO to TM4. REPAIR as necessary.
TEST the system for normal operation. - TM4 CHECK THE TCM MECT PID NOTE: The MECT PID must be accessed from the freeze frame PID menu.
Refer to the diagnostic tool instruction manual for freeze frame PID menu.
- Access the TCM and monitor the MECT PID.
Is the temperature less than 60°C (140 °F)?
Yes No INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. GO to TM5. - TM5 CHECK THE MCLTEMP WHILE RECREATING THE SYMPTOM NOTE: To recreate the original conditions that set the DTC or caused the symptom, the vehicle may require driving.
- Access the Freeze Frame Data (if available) and record the DTC malfunction conditions.
- Clear the TCM DTCs.
- Obtain information from the customer information worksheet or any other available data from the customer.
- Recreate the symptom using freeze frame and customer information.
- Access the TCM and monitor the MCLTEMP PID.
Is the temperature less than 220°C (428°F) when the symptom occurs?
Yes No Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
Concern is elsewhere. RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE for further direction.INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. - TM6 DTC P0A2F: CHECK THE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL NOTE: A low automatic transaxle fluid level may cause an traction motor over temperature condition.
- Verify the automatic transaxle fluid level is correct. Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (eCVT) - HYBRID ESCAPE .
Is the transaxle fluid level correct?
Yes No GO to TM7. ADD the necessary fluid to obtain the correct fluid level.
Refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (eCVT) - HYBRID ESCAPE .
GO to TM8. - TM7 VISUAL INSPECTION OF MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM NOTE: Repair any motor electronics coolant pump (MECP) DTCs before proceeding.
- Visually inspect the motor electronics cooling system for leaks, pinched hoses, restricted radiator air flow, correct coolant level, coolant flow at the motor electronics coolant reservoir, fan operation, and loose electrical connections.
Is the motor electronics cooling system OK?
Yes No GO to TM8. REFER to TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION COOLING - HYBRID ESCAPE to diagnose motor electronics cooling concerns. - TM8 CHECK THE MCLTEMP WHILE RECREATING THE SYMPTOM NOTE: To recreate the original conditions that set the DTC or caused the symptom, the vehicle may require driving.
- Record the MCLTEMP PID reading when the symptom occurs.
Could the symptom be recreated?
Yes No GO to TM9. Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
Concern is elsewhere. RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE for further direction. - TM9 CHECK THE MCLTEMP WHILE RECREATING THE SYMPTOM
Is the temperature less than 220°C (428°F) when the symptom occurs?
Yes No Concern is elsewhere. RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE for further direction. INSTALL a new transaxle assembly.
