Test Procedures

  1. ND1 DTC P1270: EXCESSIVE ENGINE RPM OR VEHICLE SPEED 
    NOTE: P1270 DTC indicates the vehicle was operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle speed to exceed a calibrated limit.
    • Possible causes are:
      • Excessive engine RPM in NEUTRAL or operated in the wrong transmission gear.
      • Excessive wheel slippage (water, ice, mud or snow).
      • Vehicle driven at a high rate of speed.

    Was the vehicle operating in any of the above conditions? 

    Yes No
    The OBD system is OK.
    RETURN the vehicle to customer with information about the DTC.
    GO to SYMPTOM CHARTS - HYBRID ESCAPE if there are other driveability concerns.
    If there are no other symptoms, RETURN the vehicle to customer with information about the DTC.
