Test Procedures

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. KU1 DTC P2600: VERIFY THAT THE HARD FAULT IS PRESENT

Is DTC P2600 present in the KOEO or KOER self-test?

    Yes No
GO to  KU2. GO to  KU8.
  2. KU2 CHECK THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE HPCR CIRCUIT AT THE RELAY
    • Key in OFF position.
    • HPCR connector disconnected.
    • Connect a non-powered test lamp between:
      ( + ) Vehicle Battery ( - ) HPCR Connector, Harness Side
Positive terminal HPCR - Pin 2
    • Key in ON position.
    • Access the PCM and control the HPCR PID.
    • Cycle the HPCR PID on and off.

Does the test lamp illuminate on and off when the HPCR output is commanded on and off?

    Yes No
GO to  KU3. Key in OFF position. GO to  KU5.
  3. KU3 CHECK THE VPWR VOLTAGE TO THE HPCR RELAY
    • Measure the voltage between:
      ( + ) HPCR Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery
VPWR - Pin 1 Negative terminal

Is the voltage greater than 10.5 V?

    Yes No
    Key in OFF position.
    GO to  KU4.
Key in OFF position. REPAIR the open circuit.
CHECK the condition of related fuses/fuse links. If damaged, CHECK the VPWR circuit for a short to ground.
  4. KU4 CHECK THE HPCR RELAY RESISTANCE
    • Measure the resistance between:
      ( + ) HPCR Connector, Component Side ( - ) HPCR Connector, Component Side
      VPWR - Pin 1 HPCR - Pin 2

Is the resistance between 40 ohms - 90 ohms?

    Yes No
Unable to duplicate or identify the fault at this time.
    GO to  KU8.
    INSTALL a new HPCR.
  5. KU5 CHECK THE HPCR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS
    • PCM connector disconnected.
    • Measure the resistance between:
      ( + ) PCM Connector, Harness Side ( - ) HPCR Connector, Harness Side
      HPCR - Pin T23 HPCR - Pin 2

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

    Yes No
GO to  KU6. REPAIR the open circuit.
  6. KU6 CHECK THE HPCR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER IN THE HARNESS
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between:
      ( + ) PCM Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery
HPCR - Pin T23 Negative terminal

Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes No
    Key in OFF position.
    GO to  KU7.
Key in OFF position. REPAIR the short circuit to PWR.
  7. KU7 CHECK THE HPCR CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS
    • Measure the resistance between:
      ( + ) PCM Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery
HPCR - Pin T23 Negative terminal

Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms?

    Yes No
INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to FLASH ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY (EEPROM) . REPAIR the short circuit to GND.
  8. KU8 CHECK THE HPCR CIRCUIT FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONCERN
    • PCM connector connected.
    • HPCR connector connected.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Access the PCM and control the HPCR PID.
    • Command the HPCR ON.
    • Access the PCM and monitor the HPUMP_F PID.
    • Carefully wiggle all accessible wiring and connectors associated with the circuit and look for a change in the PID state.

Is a concern present during the wiggle test?

    Yes No
    Key in OFF position.
    REPAIR as necessary.
    Key in OFF position.
GO to Pinpoint Test Z .
