DTC P0A03: Motor Electronics Coolant Temperature (MECT) Sensor Circuit High

P0A03 - MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLANT TEMPERATURE (MECT) SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH

Description:  An open circuit on this input or a short to VREF, produces a high voltage (approximately 5 volts) to the PCM. The PCM activates the high speed fan, and the motor electronics coolant pump. A 10mv difference exists between an open circuit/short to VREF, and a valid sensor reading at -40°C (-40°F).
Possible Causes: 
  • Motor electronics cooling system issues.
  • Damaged MECT sensor.
  • MECT harness issues.
  • Damaged transaxle.
  • Damaged PCM.
Diagnostic Aids:   
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
