Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor: Installation

    CAUTION: Only hand-tighten the bolt or damage to the front cover can occur.

  1. Install a 6-mm (0.23-in) x 18-mm (0.7-in) standard bolt in the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Install the CKP sensor and the bolts.
    • Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
  3. NOTE: The CKP sensor alignment tool is supplied with the new sensor and is not available separately
  4. Adjust the CKP sensor with the alignment jig.
    • Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
  5. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  6. Remove the 6-mm (0.23-in) bolt from the crankshaft pulley.
  7. Install the plug.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in)
  8. Install the RH splash shield and the 5 bolts.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  9. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
