Removal And Installation

  1. Remove the rear window. For additional information, refer to GLASS, FRAMES AND MECHANISMS article.
  2. If equipped, remove the overhead console.
    • Release the locking tabs while pulling down.
  3. Remove the left and right visors.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  7. Remove the left and right visor arm clips.

  9. Position the left and right front door opening weatherstrips down from the headliner.

  11. Remove the left and right windshield side garnish moulding. For additional information, refer toA-Pillar Trim Panel  in this article.
  12. Remove the rear B-pillar assist handles.
    • Remove the 4 covers (2 on each handle).
    • Remove the 4 screws (2 on each handle).
    • Remove the 2 B-pillar assist handles.

  14. If equipped, remove the rear and front passenger assist handles.
    • Remove the covers and screws.
    • Remove the rear assist handles.

  16. Remove the left and right rear coat hooks.

  18. Remove the 2 courtesy lamps.
    • Remove the courtesy lamp lens, then remove the screws.

  20. Remove 2 headliner front pin-type retainers.

  22. Remove the 2 headliner rear pin-type retainers.

    CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide and cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide or cover is damaged or the cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide.
  24. Lift up on the cover and remove the front and rear seat nut and shoulder safety belt guides.
    • To install, tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb-ft).

  26. Remove the front and rear door scuff plates.

  28. Position the B-pillar trim panels aside.

    NOTE: The left front seat back must be fully reclined.
    NOTE: Make sure not to damage the headliner when removing it from the vehicle.
  30. Remove the headliner through the rear window opening.
  31. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
