Pinpoint Test O: The Parking Lamps Are Inoperative With The AUTOLAMPS On

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. O1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMP OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
    • Are the parking lamps illuminated? 
    1. YES  : TURN the headlamp switch off. Go to  O2 .
    2. NO  : Go to Pinpoint Test P .
  2. O2 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: VSM C3008a
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the vehicle security module C3008a-6, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : TURN the headlamp switch off. Go to  O3 .
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. O3 CHECK CIRCUIT 195 (TN/WH) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Measure the voltage between the VSM C3008a-7, circuit 195 (TN/WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  O4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. O4 CHECK FOR CORRECT VSM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
