Pinpoint Test P: One Or More Parking, Rear Or License Lamp Is Inoperative

  1. P1 VERIFY THE INOPERATIVE LAMP(S) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the ON position.
    • Verify the inoperative lamp(s).
    • Are only all rear lamps or only all front lamps inoperative? 
    • Yes  : If all rear lamps are inoperative, GO to  P3.

      If all front lamps are inoperative, GO to  P4.

    • No  : If the signal mirror marker lamp is inoperative, GO to  P5.

      All others, GO to P2.

  2. P2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE LAMP(S) 
    • Disconnect: Inoperative Lamp.
    • Measure the voltage between inoperative lamp connector circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 14 (BN). TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. P3 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN (REAR LAMPS) 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) C270j.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between central junction box CJB C270j-12, circuit 14 (BN), component side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 14 (BN). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. P4 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN (FRONT LAMPS) 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) C270h.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between CJB C270h-3, circuit 14 (BN), component side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 14 (BN). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. P5 CHECK THE SIGNAL MIRROR FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Place the multifunction switch in the LH and then RH turn positions.
    • Do the signal mirrors operate correctly? 
  6. P6 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN (SIGNAL MIRROR MARKER) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Inoperative Mirror.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between LH outside rear view mirror C521-7, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground; or between RH outside rear view mirror C601-7, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : TURN the headlamp switch OFF. GO to P7.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. P7 CHECK THE MIRROR ASSEMBLY 
    • Connect: Inoperative Mirror.
    • Remove the mirror case front.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between mirror lamp module connector pin 1, harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new mirror case front. REFER to REAR VIEW MIRRORS . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new outside rear view mirror. REFER to REAR VIEW MIRRORS . TEST the system for normal operation.
