Safety Belt Retractor - Front, With Seat Integrated Restraints (SIR): Installation

    All seats 

    NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

  1. Route the safety belt anchor, tongue, web guide and safety belt up through the opening at the safety belt guide.
  2. Install the safety belt retractor.
    1. Align the tab into the seat backrest bracket.
    2. Install the bolt.
      • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  3. NOTE: Prior to installation, make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.
    NOTE: Make sure the anti-rotation tab is correctly positioned into the seat frame.
  4. Install the safety belt anchor and nut.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  5. Install the safety belt web guides.
    1. Position the front safety belt web guide.
    2. Position the upper safety belt web guide.
    3. Install the pin-type retainers.

  6. NOTE: Do not reverse the bracket during installation.
  7. Install the bracket and 2 screws.
    • Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).

  8. NOTE: The inboard and outboard tower cap covers are not interchangeable. The outboard cover sits flat on the tower cap. The inboard cover sticks out from the tower cap.
  9. Install the tower cap.
    • Install the 4 attachment screws.
    • Install the inboard, outboard and front screw covers.

  10. Install the seat backrest trim cover J-clips.

  11. Install the seat backrest trim panel.
    1. Position the seat backrest trim panel to the seat backrest and lift up, engaging the upper retaining clips.
    2. Push the sides of the seat backrest trim panel together, align the retaining clips to the seat backrest frame wires and release the cover, engaging the retaining clips into the seat backrest frame wire retainer.
    3. Install the seat backrest trim panel pin-type retainers.

  12. Position the side trim cover onto the seat.
    • Vehicles with power seat, feed the seat control switch wire harness through the seat opening as noted in removal.
    • Align the side shield to the pivot bolt.

  13. Vehicles with heated seats 

  14. Connect the heated seat switch electrical connector.

  15. All seats 

  16. Position the lumbar adjuster control and install the 2 screws securing the lumbar adjuster control to the seat track riser.

  17. Install the seat side trim panel screws, the seat adjuster control knob and cover.
    1. Install the 3 seat side trim panel attachment screws (2 shown).
    2. Install the seat recliner lever cover and screw.
    3. Install the lumbar control knob.

  18. Vehicles with power seats 

  19. Connect the seat control switch electrical connector.

  20. All seats 

  21. Install the seat on the side with the affected safety belt retractor. For additional information, refer to SEATING .
  22. Check the active restraints for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM  in the Diagnosis and Testing portion of this section.
