Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt assemblies (including retractors, belt tension sensor (BTS), if equipped, buckles, shoulder belt height adjusters [if equipped], child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware) should be inspected after every collision. All new belt assemblies should be installed unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and new assemblies installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted. Failure to follow these instructions could increase the risk of injury in collisions.

NOTE: Driver side shown, passenger side similar.

All seats

Remove the seat on the side with the affected safety belt buckle. For additional information, refer to SEATING .

Driver seat

Remove the safety belt buckle switch electrical connector from the seat cushion pan.

Remove the nut and the safety belt buckle.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Install the seat on the side with the affected safety belt buckle. For additional information, refer to SEATING .
Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM in the Diagnosis and Testing portion of this section.
