Pinpoint Test C: The High Beams Are Inoperative

- C1 CHECK THE HIGH BEAM INDICATOR
- Key in OFF position.
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Place the multifunction switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
- Does the high beam indicator illuminate?
Yes : TURN the headlamp switch off. GO to C2.
No : VERIFY the CJB fuse 30 (15A) is OK. If OK, TURN the headlamp switch off. GO to C3.
- C2 CHECK CIRCUIT 12 (LG/BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: CJB C270h.
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the CJB C270h pin 1, circuit 12 (LG/BK), component side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CJB
- Disconnect: CJB C270b.
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the CJB C270b-7, circuit 632 (GY/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
No : TURN the headlamp switch off. GO to C4.
- C4 CHECK CIRCUIT 632 (GY/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202a.
- Measure the resistance between the CJB C270b-7, circuit 632 (GY/OG), harness side and the multifunction switch C202a-7, circuit 632 (GY/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
