Pinpoint Test B: The Luggage Compartment Lid Is Inoperative - Without Police Package

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
  1. B1 CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE SWITCH FOR CORRECT OPERATION
    • Measure the resistance between the luggage compartment lid release switch C534-1, circuit 1523 (DG), component side and luggage compartment lid release switch C534-2, circuit 26 (WH/VT), component side while pressing and releasing the luggage compartment lid release switch.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms with the luggage compartment lid release switch released, and less than 5 ohms with the luggage compartment lid release switch pressed?

    Yes  : GO to B2.

No  : INSTALL a new luggage compartment lid release switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  2. B2 CHECK THE DDM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs)
    • Refer to the results from the previous DDM self-test.
    • Is DTC B1553 recorded?

    Yes  : GO to B3.

    No  : GO to  B4.

  3. B3 CHECK CIRCUIT 26 (WH/VT) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE.
    • Measure the voltage between the DDM C501a-12, circuit 26 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : GO to  B9.

  4. B4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1523 (DG) FOR VOLTAGE
    • Disconnect: Luggage Compartment Lid Release Switch C534.
    • Measure the voltage between the luggage compartment lid release switch C534-1, circuit 1523 (DG), harness side and ground.
