Pinpoint Test B: The Air Bag/Safety Belt Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. B1 CHECK FOR RCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCs) 
    • Check for recorded RCM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
    • Are DTCs B1891 or B1892 present? 

    Yes  : REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM to continue diagnosis of the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

    No  : GO to B2.

  2. B2 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the LCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
