Removal And Installation

WARNING: When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage. Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

All fuel tanks 

  1. Remove the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to Fuel Tank - Midship  or Fuel Tank - Aft-of-Axle .
  2. Place the fuel tank on a suitable work surface.
  3. Aft-of-axle fuel tank 

  4. Remove the fuel pump nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  5. Midship fuel tank 

  6. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube-to-fuel pump quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE AND DIESEL article.

  8. Remove the fuel pump bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  9. All fuel tanks 

  10. Remove the fuel pump and fuel pump seal.
    • Discard the fuel pump seal.
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new fuel pump seal.
