Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. NOTE: Install new master cylinder nuts.
  3. Remove and discard the 2 master cylinder nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
  4. NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the brake tube fittings.
  5. Carefully position the brake master cylinder assembly forward.
  6. Disconnect the vacuum hose/check valve assembly from the brake booster.
  7. Remove the brake pedal position (BPP) switch. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  8. If equipped, remove the speed control deactivator switch. For additional information, refer to SPEED CONTROL .
  9. Remove the brake booster pushrod pin redundant clip.
  10. Remove the brake booster pushrod self-locking pin.
  11. Remove the brake booster pushrod outer bushing
  12. Slide the brake booster pushrod off of the brake pedal pin and position the pushrod aside.
  13. Remove the 4 nuts and the brake booster.
    • To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
