Special Tool(s)

SPECIAL TOOL

Brake Adjusting Gauge 206-D002 (D81L-1103-A) or equivalent
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. NOTE: Make sure the parking brake is fully released.
  3. Using the release handle, release the parking brake control.
  4. Remove the rear brake disc. For additional information, refer to REAR DISC BRAKE .
  5. Using the special tool, measure the inside diameter of the drum portion of the rear brake disc and set the locking screw.
    • Record the measurement.

  6. Place the special tool over the widest diameter of the parking brake shoes.

  7. Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance to 1.07 mm (0.04 in) less than the inside diameter of the drum portion of the rear brake disc.
    • Rotate the parking brake shoe adjuster to achieve the correct parking brake shoe-to-brake disc clearance.
  8. Install the rear brake disc. For additional information, refer to REAR DISC BRAKE .
  9. Test the parking brake for normal operation.
