Pinpoint Test C: The Alarm System Does Not Arm/Disarm - Inoperative From The Hood Ajar Switch

  1. C1 CHECK THE RECORDED SJB DTCs 
    • Make sure the hood is closed.
    • Use the recorded results from the SJB self-test.
    • Is DTC B1519 retrieved? 
    • Yes  : GO to C2.
    • No  : GO to  C5.
  2. C2 VERIFY THE DTC B1519 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b-5, circuit 1304 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  C7.
    • No  : GO to C3.
  3. C3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1304 (VT/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Hood Ajar Switch C127.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b-5, circuit 1304 (VT/OG), harness side and the hood ajar switch C127-1, circuit 1304 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to C4.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. C4 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the hood ajar switch C127-2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new hood ajar switch. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. C5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1304 (VT/OG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Hood Ajar Switch C127.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
    • Measure the resistance between the hood ajar switch C127-1, circuit 1304 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to C6.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. C6 CHECK THE HOOD AJAR SWITCH 
    • Make sure the hood is open.
    • Connect: Hood Ajar Switch C127.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b-5, circuit 1304 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to C7.
    • No  : INSTALL a new hood ajar switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. C7 CHECK THE SJB FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
