Pinpoint Test F: No Communication With The Instrument Cluster Module
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
Test Step
F1 CHECK HOT AT ALL TIMES POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220b.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220b-3, circuit 29-GG11 (OG/BU), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
GO to F2.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
F2 CHECK HOT IN RUN POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster and ground as follows:INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Connector Pin Circuit C220a-11 15-JA14 (GN/BK) C220b-6 15-GG1 (GN/BU) C220b-17 75-GG15 (YE/GN) - Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
GO to F3.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
F3 CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUITS 91-GG11 (BK/BU) AND 31-AL11 (BK) FOR OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C220b-13, circuit 91-GG11 (BK/BU), harness side and ground; and between the instrument cluster C220a-6, circuit 31-AL11 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to continue module communication diagnosis.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
