Pinpoint Test Ac: The Integrated Circuit Display Is Inoperative
Test Step
AC1 VERIFY THE INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DISPLAY OPERATION
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command
- Select the instrument cluster DISPLAY SEGMENT CONTROL II active command.
- Trigger the SEGMENTS active command.
- Do all of the segments illuminate?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
If the PRNDL is inoperative, REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 5R55S .
If the odometer is inoperative, Go to PINPOINT TEST K: THE ODOMETER IS INOPERATIVE .
If the warning center display is inoperative, GO to AC2.
No
GO to AC4.
Test Step
AC2 MONITOR THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Key in ON position.
- Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
- Monitor the exterior lighting.
- Do all exterior lamps operate correctly?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
GO to AC3.
No
REPAIR the exterior lights. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
Test Step
AC3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM BOTH CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS - FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) AND REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE (REM)
- Use recorded rear electronic module (REM) and front electronic module (FEM) DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Are any FEM or REM DTCs recorded?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
REPAIR the FEM DTCs. REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
No
GO to AC4.
Test Step
AC4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Result/Action to Take
Yes
INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
