Removal and Installation

    CAUTION: The vehicle must be on level ground and at curb height.
  1. Mark the rear shock absorbers relative to their protective sleeve.
    • During installation, raise the suspension to this reference mark before tightening the suspension fasteners.

  2. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT .
  3. Remove the drive pinion. For additional information, refer to DRIVE PINION .
  4. Disconnect the parking brake rear cables.

  5. Remove the parking brake rear cables and conduit from the routing clip bolts.

  6. Disconnect the parking brake rear cables from the parking brake lever.

  7. Remove the clip from the rear disc brake calipers.

  8. Remove the parking brake rear cables and conduit from the rear disc brake calipers.

  9. Position a suitable jack under the differential housing for support and strap it securely in place.

  10. Remove and discard the nuts and bolts retaining the upper suspension arm and bushings to the differential housing.

  11. Remove and discard the nuts and bolts retaining the shock absorbers to the axle.

  12. Lower the differential housing and remove the rear springs.
  13. Remove and discard the nuts and bolts retaining the lower suspension arm and bushings to the axle.

  14. Disconnect the lower suspension arm and bushings from the axle.

  15. Remove the axle from the vehicle.
  16. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
