Pinpoint Test F: DTC C1145 (RF), DTC C1155 (LF), DTC C1165 (RR), DTC C1175 (LR), DTC C1233 (LF), DTC C1234 (RF), DTC C1235 (RR), DTC C1236 (LR), - Anti-Lock Brake Sensor Input Circuit Failure/Signal Missing
Test Step
- F1 CHECK THE SUSPECT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Suspect wheel speed sensor.
- Measure the resistance between the suspect wheel speed sensor pins, component side.
- Is the resistance between 1,200 and 1,800 ohms for the front wheel speed sensors, and between 1,300 and 1,900 ohms for the rear wheel speed sensors?
Result / Action to Take
- Yes: GO to F2.
- No: INSTALL a new wheel speed sensor. REFER to SENSOR - Rear or SENSOR - Front . Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the selftest.
- F2 CHECK THE WHEEL SPEED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER NOTE: Both circuits must be checked for each DTC.
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module C135.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS module connector, harness side and ground as follows:DTC - ABS MODULE C135-PIN
DTC ABS Module C135-Pin Circuit C1145 4 514 (YE/RD) C1145 5 516 (YE/BK) C1155 20 521 (TN/OG) C1155 21 522 (TN/BK) C1165 1 494 (TN/LG) C1165 3 492 (BN) C1175 22 496 (OG) C1175 23 499 (GY/BK) - Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No: GO to F3.
- F3 CHECK THE WHEEL SPEED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND NOTE: Both circuits must be checked for each DTC.
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS module connector, harness side and ground as follows:DTC - ABS MODULE C135-PIN
DTC ABS Module C135-Pin Circuit C1145 4 514 (YE/RD) C1145 5 516 (YE/BK) C1155 20 521 (TN/OG) C1155 21 522 (TN/BK) C1165 1 494 (TN/LG) C1165 3 492 (BN) C1175 22 496 (OG) C1175 23 499 (GY/BK) - Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to F4.
- No: REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F4 CHECK THE WHEEL SPEED CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN NOTE: Both circuits must be checked for each DTC.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS module connector, harness side and the suspect wheel speed sensor connector, harness side as follows:DTC - ABS MODULE C135-PIN
DTC ABS Module C135-Pin Suspect wheel speed sensor-Pin Circuit C1145 4 1 514 (YE/RD) C1145 5 2 516 (YE/BK) C1155 20 1 521 (TN/OG) C1155 21 2 522 (TN/BK) C1165 1 2 494 (TN/LG) C1165 3 1 492 (BN) C1175 22 2 496(OG) C1175 23 1 499 (GY/BK) - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes: If DTC C1233, C1234, C1235, or C1236 is present GO to F5. If DTC C1145, C1155, C1165, or C1175 is present GO to F10
- No: REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS module connector, harness side and the suspect wheel speed sensor connector, harness side as follows:
- F5 INSPECT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR MOUNTING
- Key in OFF position.
- Inspect the wheel speed sensor for looseness, excessive dirt build -up, metal obstructions, improper harness routing, and chaffing.
- Is the wheel speed sensor OK?
- Yes: GO to F6.
- No: REPAIR or INSTALL a new wheel speed sensor. REFER to SENSOR - Rear or SENSOR - Front . Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F6 CHECK FOR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR RING DAMAGE
- Inspect the wheel speed sensor indicator for corrosion, damaged or missing teeth. Rotate the wheel to verify that no teeth are missing, correct mounting and alignment of indicator.
- Is the wheel speed sensor Indicator OK?
- Yes: GO to F7.
- No: INSTALL a new wheel speed sensor ring. REFER to SENSOR - Rear or SENSOR - Front . Clear the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F7 CHECK THE WHEEL SPEED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS module connector, harness side and ground as follows:DTC - ABS MODULE C135-PIN
DTC ABS Module C135-Pin Circuit C1233 4 514 (YE/RD) C1233 5 516 (YE/BK) C1234 20 521 (TN/OG) C1234 21 522 (TN/BK) C1235 1 494 (TN/LG) C1235 3 492 (BN) C1236 22 496 (OG) C1236 23 499 (GY/BK) - Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to F8.
- No: REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F8 CHECK THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR OUTPUTS
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect: Suspect wheel speed sensor.
- While spinning the suspect wheel at one revolution per second measure the AC voltage between the ABS module C135 pins, harness side and as follows:DTC - ABS MODULE C135-PIN
DTC ABS Module C135-Pin Circuit C1233 4 514 (YE/RD) C1233 5 516 (YE/BK) C1234 20 521 (TN/OG) C1234 21 522 (TN/BK) C1235 1 494 (TN/LG) C1235 3 492 (BN) C1236 22 496 (OG) C1236 23 499 (GY/BK) - Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to F9.
- No: REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F9 CHECK THE SUSPECT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Suspect wheel speed sensor.
- Measure the resistance between the suspect wheel speed sensor pin, harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater 10,000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to F10.
- No:
REPAIR the circuit in question.
CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F10 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes: INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
