Valve Seals: Installation

- Position a new valve seal onto the valve stem.
- Using the special tool, install the new valve seal.
- Using the special tool, install the valve spring, the valve spring retainer and the valve spring retainer keys.
- Relieve the air pressure from the cylinder.
- Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and install the camshaft roller follower.
- Position the camshaft bearing cap and install the 2 bolts in 2 stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 45 degrees.
- Position the camshaft bearing cap and install the 2 bolts in 2 stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 45 degrees.
- Install the spark plug. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 5.4L AND 6.8L (3V) .
- Depending on the valve being serviced, install the LH or RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - LH or VALVE COVER - RH .

NOTE:
Lubricate the valve seal and valve stem with clean engine oil prior to installation.

If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed into their original locations.
