Removal & Installation (Except SVT)
- Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER .
- On models with speed control, disconnect speed control unit electrical connector. See Fig 1.
- Remove speed control unit mounting nuts and lower unit so it does not interfere with booster removal. See Fig 2.
- Disconnect hydraulic brake lines from bulkhead. See Fig 3.
- Release retainer on Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) harness connector and disconnect connector. See Fig 4.
- Disconnect the brake tubes from the HCU. See Fig 5.
- Disconnect the brake booster actuating rod from the brake pedal. Depress the brake pedal. Depress the clip. Remove the pin. See Fig 6.
- Remove booster-to-dash panel nuts. See Fig 7. Remove brake booster and gasket.
- To install, install new gasket on booster studs. Install brake booster. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
