Removal & Installation (2002 M/T)

  1. Remove lower instrument panel retaining screws. Release clip. See Fig 1.
  2. Disconnect hood release cable. Disconnect data link connector harness connector. See Fig 2. Remove lower instrument panel.
  3. Unlock and disconnect clutch and brake pedal switches. See Fig 3.
  4. Disconnect brake booster actuator rod from brake pedal. Depress clip and remove pin. See Fig 4.
  5. Remove pivot shaft nut. See Fig 5.
  6. NOTE: Do NOT remove the clutch pedal bushing and pivot shaft spacer.
  7. Slide pedal pivot shaft out and remove brake pedal. See Fig 6.
  8. Remove brake pedal bushings. See Fig 7.
  9. Remove brake pedal rubber (if necessary).
  10. To install, reverse removal procedures. Install a NEW actuator rod and pin. Set brake light switch by pulling out switch plunger to its full extent, depress brake pedal. See Fig 8. Install switch and slowly release the brake pedal.
