Pressure Bleeding
CAUTION:
Ensure that the pressure within the brake system does not exceed 14.5 psi (1 bar). Ensure that the pressure bleeding equipment is filled with new brake fluid to the correct specification.
NOTE:
The service ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is supplied with brake fluid. Therefore, a conventional bleed procedure should be adequate to remove all air from the brake system.
NOTE:
Ensure that the vehicle is standing on a level surface. The system consists of separate circuits for each front and diagonally opposite rear wheel. Each circuit can be bled independently.
- If vehicle is equipped with ABS, disconnect negative battery cable.
- Clean dirt from brake fluid reservoir cap and surrounding area, then remove cap. Fill the brake fluid reservoir to the MAX mark.
- Using suitable pressure bleeding equipment, pressure bleed the system in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Attach bleeder hose to first bleed valve to be serviced. See BRAKELINE BLEEDING SEQUENCE table. Place other end of hose in clean, transparent container. Partially fill container with clean brake fluid until end of hose is submerged in fluid.
- Open release valve on pressure bleeder. Open bleed valve 3/4 turn, noting fluid flow. When fluid flowing into container is clear and free of bubbles, close bleeder valve securely.
- Finish bleeding system in same manner using correct sequence. Remove pressure tank from master cylinder, and fill master cylinder reservoir to MAX mark.
