Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
  2. Remove the battery ground cable screw and remove the cable.

  3. Remove the bolt located on the side of the frame rail.

  4. Remove the nut on bottom of the engine, near the front engine cover.

  5. Remove the stud and the battery ground cable eyelet.

  6. Disconnect the starter motor connections.
    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the solenoid cable.
    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the starter motor positive cable.

  7. Remove the nut and position the generator B+ cable aside.

  8. Disconnect the battery positive cable electrical connector.
    • Release the battery positive cable locators from the battery tray.

  9. Remove the four pin-type retainers and position the upper radiator air deflector aside.
  10. CAUTION: When removing the right upper radiator support, use care not to damage the radiator degas bottle.
  11. Release the positive battery cable.
    1. Remove the radiator degas bottle bolt.
    2. Remove the bolts, and the right and left radiator support.
    3. Release four B+ cable locators and position the B+ cable aside.

  12. Remove the battery positive cable junction cover.

  13. Remove the nut and disconnect the battery positive cable.

  14. Remove the battery cable assembly.
  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
