Push Rod Adjustment: Adjustment
- Remove the master cylinder; refer to MASTER CYLINDER .
- Measure the master cylinder primary piston depth
- Loosen the set screw.
- Push the Master Cylinder Gauge plunger into the master cylinder primary piston.
- While holding the plunger in place tighten the screw.
- Measure the power brake booster push rod length.
- Position the gauge to the over the power brake booster push rod.
- Measure the clearance between the gauge and the push rod.
- Adjust the power brake booster to master cylinder push rod.
- Secure the push rod from spinning.
- Adjust the power brake booster push rod.
- Install the master cylinder; refer to MASTER CYLINDER .
NOTE:
The power brake booster to master cylinder push rod adjustment should only need to be adjusted when the master cylinder has been replaced.
CAUTION:
Use care when removing the gauge from the master cylinder. If the gauge plunger is moved during removal a faulty measurement will be recorded causing the possibility of misadjustment of the power brake booster push rod.
NOTE:
If the power brake booster to master cylinder is not within specifications perform the following adjustment step.
