Valve Seals: Installation

- Position a new valve seal onto the valve stem.
- Using the special tool, install the new valve seal.
- Using the special tool, install the valve spring, the valve spring retainer and the valve spring retainer keys.
- Relieve the air pressure from the cylinder.
- Using the special tool, compress the valve spring and install the camshaft roller follower.
- Install the spark plug. For additional information, refer to SPARK PLUGS .
- Install the LH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - LH .
- Using the special tools, align the engine support insulator studs and lower the engine.
- Install the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
- Install the 6 RH and LH engine support insulator nuts.
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
- Install the 4 exhaust manifold-to-exhaust Y-pipe nuts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Install the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER - RH .
- Install the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR -- GASOLINE ENGINES .
- Install the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to COOLING FAN -- BLADE, CLUTCH AND SHROUD .
- Install the air cleaner and air cleaner inlet tube. For additional information, refer to AIR CLEANER INTAKE PIPE -- 5.4L (3V) .

NOTE:
Lubricate the valve seal and valve stem with clean engine oil prior to installation.
CAUTION:
If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed into their original locations.

Only use hand tools when installing the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts or damage to the transmission mount can occur.
