Brake Booster: Removal

Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
Remove the air cleaner assembly.
Remove the brake master cylinder (2140). For additional information, refer to HYDRAULIC BRAKE ACTUATION .
Disconnect the power brake booster check valve vacuum hose.

For 3.8L engine only; disconnect the speed control and the accelerator cables.

For 3.8L engine only; remove the wiring harness retaining bracket.

For 3.8L engine only; remove the cable bracket bolts and position bracket aside.

For 3.8L engine only; remove the speed control module bolts and position module aside.

For 3.8L engine only; remove the instrument close-out panel bolts and then remove the panel.

Remove the stoplight switch (13480) self-locking pin.

Slide the stoplight switch and booster push rod and the bushing off the brake pedal pin.

Remove the power brake booster nuts.
