Front Brake Caliper & Pads: Removal

NOTE: It is not required to install new brake pads if friction material properties are within guidelines. It is also not required to install new brake pads when the brake discs are machined.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels.
  2. Detach brake hose from support bracket. See Fig 1.
  3. Loosen brake hose. Using 2 screwdrivers, pry loose outer brake pad retaining clip. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove bolt covers. Remove caliper bolts. See Fig 3.
  5. Pull caliper outward to release piston. Remove and support caliper.
  6. Lift outer pad retaining clip over spring retaining lugs. See Fig 4. Remove outer brake pad. Remove inner brake pad.
  7. If caliper requires service, disconnect brake hose from caliper and cap brake hose.
