Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the overhead console.
    NOTE: Overhead console with front auxiliary controls shown, all others similar.
    • Remove the screw, disengage the clips, and disconnect the electrical connectors.

  2. If equipped, remove the auxiliary climate control assembly.
    1. Pull down on the front of the auxiliary climate control assembly and slide forward and downward.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  3. If equipped, remove the video display unit. Refer to VIDEO SYSTEM .
  4. Remove the left and right visors.
  5. Remove the left and right visor arm clips.

  6. Position the left and right front door opening weatherstrips down from the headliner.

  7. Remove the windshield side garnish moulding. Refer to MOULDING - Windshield Side Garnish .
  8. Remove the B-pillar assist handles.
    1. Remove the four covers (two on each handle).
    2. Remove the two assist handles.
    3. Remove the four screws (two on each handle).

  9. Remove the RF and two rear assist handles.
    1. Remove the covers and bolts.
    2. Remove the RF and two rear assist handles.

  10. Position the left and right rear door opening weatherstrips down from the headliner.

  11. Remove the four coat hooks.

  12. Lift up on the cover and remove the nut and front seat shoulder safety belt guides.
    CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide and cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide or cover is damaged or cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide.

  13. Remove the front door scuff plates and the rear door scuff plates.
  14. Position the B-pillar trim panels aside.

  15. Pull out where indicated on the second row safety belt guide covers and open.

  16. Remove the second row shoulder safety belt guides.
    CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide and cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide or cover is damaged or cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide.
    1. Remove the nuts.
    2. Remove the shoulder safety belt guides.

  17. Remove the third row shoulder safety belt guides.
    CAUTION: If the safety belt retractor is to be reused, do not allow the safety belt to be retracted all the way into the retractor. Doing so may cause the retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide and cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide or cover is damaged or cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide.
    • Pull back the shoulder safety belt guide covers and remove the bolts.

  18. Pull to release the retaining clips and remove the C-pillar trim panels.

  19. Remove the third row seat.
  20. Pull down to release the clips and remove the rear hatch upper trim panel.

  21. Pull out to release the clips and remove the D-pillar trim panels.

  22. Remove the front and rear courtesy lamp lens, then remove the screws.

  23. Remove the center courtesy lamps.
    • Insert a small screwdriver and unclip locking tab.

  24. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove from the vehicle.
  25. Remove the rear courtesy lamp.
    • Insert a small screwdriver and unclip locking tab.

  26. Disconnect the courtesy lamp electrical connector and remove from the vehicle.
  27. Remove the duct registers. Refer to AUXILIARY CLIMATE CONTROL .
  28. Remove the headliner front pin-type retainers.

  29. Remove the headliner center pin-type retainers.

  30. Remove the headliner rear pin-type retainers.

  31. Tilt the headliner toward the driver side of the vehicle and disconnect the rear air conditioning duct.

  32. Remove the headliner from the vehicle.
  33. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
